Funding Graduate Studies
Stanford University commits 5 years of 12-month financial support to all doctoral students making satisfactory academic progress. This financial support may include fellowships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships. The type of financial support a student receives varies by school and degree program.
Financial support for master’s students is limited. Prospective students should inquire about possible financial support from the program they are interested in.
It may be helpful to seek out fellowship opportunities to support your graduate education. Websites such as those at Stanford, UCLA, Columbia, and the McNair Scholars Program compile lists of external fellowship opportunities. Federal agencies, private foundations, corporations, and professional organizations may also offer fellowships for graduate study.
