Steven Chu, the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor and professor in the Department of Physics, has been named the winner of the 2024 Karl Taylor Compton Medal for Leadership in Physics from the American Institute of Physics. Chu, who is also a professor in the School of Medicine and the Doerr School of Sustainability, has been recognized for his impact on the field of physics, his deep commitment to leadership, and his groundbreaking research.
