Risa Wechsler, professor of physics and director of the Kavli Institute of Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, and Susan Clark, assistant professor of physics, lead a KIPAC team that has been awarded $5 million by the Kavli Foundation to build and deploy two spectrograph telescopes to study the Milky Way in detail. Called the Via Project, the research will focus on finding cold dark matter halos, mapping cold gas, and identifying and characterizing satellite galaxies.
